Oral sex has been linked to an increase risk of Human papilloma virus infection: Oral intercourse has been associated with an increased risk of mouth infections brought on by HPV, as well as an increased risk of HPV-related oral malignancies.
The University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) professor Adegboyega Fawole has issued a warning, stating that oral sex participants may be harbouring Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in their throats.

According to Fawole of the UITH Department of Gynaecology, HPV is primarily spread through sexual contact, he told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Tuesday.
According to him, the virus could also cause anal cancer and genital warts, and it was the source of practically all cases of cervical cancer.
But he also stated, “Sex in general has also been linked with these risks.”
The gynaecologist issued a warning, stating that oral sex users had a twice higher risk of oral HPV infection than non-users.
However, Fawole stated that if a couple was in good health, there was no reason for them to limit their sexual activity if they were in a monogamous relationship.
To prevent cancer of any form, he urged individuals to have screenings and checkups regularly.
